2 Timothy 1:7 - Week 24!

I leave for Miss America in only a few days … and I can hardly wait!

I traveled this week promoting the Miss America Pageant, which is on ABC January 14 at 7:00 pm.  I first visited The Buzz Radio Station!  Bazzel and Roger are always lots of fun, and we spent most of the morning talking about the biggest events of 2011! Wednesday, I was on Channel 7 for Daybreak!  Thank you to Allyson Courtney for asking me about the Miss America details!  If you missed it, click here (http://www.katv.com/video?clipId=6590452&autostart=true).  Thursday, I visited on air with an old friend of the Miss America pageant, Dick Antoine. at Hot Springs Radio Station KZNG AM.  He allowed listeners to call in with practice interview questions … it was lots of fun!  Friday, I traveled to Russellville for a photo shoot and filming of commercials promoting Dr. Michael Cooper’s dental practice.  If you live in central Arkansas, you will see two of my commercials on Channel 7 during the Miss America Pageant!  It is a joy to endorse Dr. Cooper and his talents!

The Buzz!

The one and only, Dick Antoine!

Daybreak crew looks great for it to be 6am!  haha!

I am currently packing for 11 days in Las Vegas.  I have clothes everywhere and a spreadsheet that outlines what I need for each day.  I expect to take 5-8 suitcases … thankfully Southwest Airlines lets me check the first two suitcases for free!

One corner of my apartment.  I feel so accomplished!

This week, I focused on all of the finishing touches!  I shopped at Dillard’s in Hot Springs and also picked up my competition wardrobe after final alterations by Shelley Kelley at Clark’s Bridal.  I practiced talent, interview, and modeling.  Best of all … I spent hours talking to Alyse, Sarah, and Ashlen about what to expect in Las Vegas!  They told me what to pack and explained the schedule for a typical day in Las Vegas.  I will leave my cell phone and camera in my hotel room, but both my sister (@ashleyglover92) and Ashton Campbell, Miss Arkansas’ Outstanding Teen (@MissArkOT2011) will be tweeting throughout the week!

If you would like to send me some mail … I would love it!  The last day that I can receive letters will be Friday, January 13.  They will not allow me to receive flowers or food.  Please don’t send a gift, as my suitcases will be packed to the brim!  A card or letter would be perfect!  Address to:

For all of my faithful followers, your prayers during the next two weeks will be very much appreciated!  Pray specifically for my health.  Last year, half of the girls visited the doctor while in Vegas, and I am already fighting a wimpy head cold!  Pray that I remain focused on the Saturday night finale.  I know that I will be exhausted by Saturday, but I want to give it my all for the finale!  Finally, pray that I live out 2 Timothy 1:7 on a daily basis.

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.”
2 Timothy 1:7

Competing in the Miss America Pageant has been a life-long dream and four-year goal!  As I was thinking about my purpose in competing for the Miss America crown, I realize my heart for this organization has only grown stronger since being crowned in July.  Six months later, I am still focused on the same purpose!  Check out my blog post in June 2011 to know what I am talking about: (http://secondchanceskg.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html).

I am here today because of my God, friends, and family members who have supported me through it all. Thank you to the Miss Arkansas Organization and sponsors who have prepared me for 2012.  It is an honor to be a part of the Miss America Organization, and I am ready for a job promotion!

All of the Miss America contestants when we were together in Orlando!

I will take a 2-week hiatus from blogging.  When I leave the Miss America Pageant as Miss America or Miss Arkansas … you better believe that it will be the best blog I have ever written!  You won’t want to miss it!
